Share your scam story

Almost caught one? Actually got caught? Either way, your story could stop the next person from losing money.

Doesn't matter if it was $5 or $50,000. If it taught you something, it's worth sharing. Scammers reuse the same scripts on thousands of people, and the more of those scripts are out in the open, the harder they are to run.

Submit your story

Takes about two minutes. Stay anonymous if you want. We never sell your data.

Share my story Reports are reviewed before anything is published, and nothing you submit is used to flag a person until it has been checked.

What happens to your story

What makes a story useful

You do not need to write well. You need to be specific about the parts that would help someone else recognize the same trick:

Lost money already? Report it to the FTC and, if it involved a bank transfer, gift cards or crypto, contact the company you paid through right away. Some payments can be reversed if you move fast. Then come back and tell us what happened, so it does not happen to the next person.

Not sure if it was a scam?

If it is still going on and you are not certain, check first. Every ScamCatchers search starts from the home page and the first one is free: check a person, look up a phone number, verify a business, check an online store, or paste the conversation and let the analyzer look for the usual scripts.
