Contractors May Vary: Finding the Right One for the Job

Home services are expensive, time-consuming, and often invasive. You can’t really help having contractors in your kitchen when you’re getting a kitchen remodel. That’s just the nature of getting work done on your house!

If you’re going to spend all that money and have workers in your home, however, make sure you’re not getting scammed.

There are numerous scams that can be run by would-be con men posing as contractors. The most obvious one is just doing shoddy work but charging top dollar. More insidious scammers could use “contract work” as a cover to case a home for later burglary.

The best way to avoid these scams is to only use reputable, well-known contractors that you personally trust. Ask family and friends for recommendations, and do ample online research.

If you’re going to have people in your home, make sure the company they work for is well-respected in their field and gets good reviews all around!
